Nigel Farage: 'I'd do a deal with the devil for a proper Brexit'

06:45
The Brexit Party Leader joined Julia Hartley-Brewer's breakfast show to discuss the third anniversary of the EU Referendum result, the Tory leadership contest and the right to a private life. Julia: "Do you think Brexit ever will be delivered?" Farage: "Oh yes, in fact I'm absolutely more certain of it today than I was three years ago. The public now have a taste and an appetite for this." Farage: "Boris Johnson will win, the question is what Boris Johnson do we get? Do we get Brave Boris, who goes to Brussels once, concludes there's nothing to be discussed and will come back prepared to fight an election on No Deal. If he comes through that, he'll be an all-time national hero." Farage: "For people to record through the wall is absolutely disgusting. Why not put some secret cameras in the bedroom? However, police were called, and that means that Boris Johnson should have answered questions on Saturday. If he had, this would be over by now."

BREXIT: Jeremy Corbyn CLASHES with Theresa May, "THREE WASTED YEARS" (24th June 2019)

11:39
In the House of Commons, Prime Minister Theresa May has updated MPs on last week’s EU summit. She says the EU summit focused on climate change, disinformation, the EU’s external relations, and what the EU calls its “top jobs”. She says she was there because the UK has agreed to continue contributing fully to EU discussions while it remains a member. Opposition leader Jeremy Corbyn says there have been three wasted years since the vote to leave the EU. And we will soon be on our third prime minister, he says. He says Theresa May wasted time appealing to the wilder extremes in her party, instead of reaching out across the Commons. Does she accept it was a mistake to legitimise the idea of no deal? Does May believe no deal should be on the table as a viable option? What would be worse? Crashing out in October? Or putting it back to the people for a final say? #Brexit #TheresaMay #JeremyCorbyn

Boris Johnson said these were "dark days" for his party, but remains confident that he can turn things around and deliver Brexit, while 'remainer' Hunt warned members not to elect the "wrong person" and risk "catastrophe". Johnson said the most important thing was to "get Brexit done". "My ambition is to unite this country and our society... let's take Britain forward. BREXIT REWIND: Cameron informs Commons on Brexit vote, tiny swipes at Boris Johnson (27th June 2016)

02:13:27
Exactly 3 years ago, on 23rd June 2016, the British people voted to leave the European Union after a historic referendum in which they rejected the advice of the main Westminster party leaders and instead took a plunge into the political unknown. In a two and a half hour statement to the House of Commons, Mr Cameron told MPs that, as a prime minister who was not going to seek re-election, he had "no other agenda than what is best for our country". That was seen as pointed reference to Boris Johnson, who has been accused by some of putting personal political ambition ahead of principle in deciding to campaign for EU exit. The Conservative MP has rejected that suggestion and insisted that he has long been sceptical of the benefits of EU membership and the UK has a "great future" outside it. David Cameron has warned that leaving the European Union "could hurt working people for years to come", as he put the case for staying in the EU to MPs. He said the choice was between an "even greater Britain" by staying in, or a "leap into the dark" by exiting. There were thinly veiled swipes at Boris Johnson, including the PM ruling out the idea of a second referendum. More than 100 Conservative MPs want to leave the EU, including some ministers listening to his Commons statement. #Brexit #DavidCameron #BorisJohnson

Boris Johnson speaks at his first public hustings as he competes to became the next PM

Boris Johnson called for “guts and determination” to deliver Brexit and pledged to unite the country in the same way he led the capital for two terms as Mayor of London. In a passionate speech launching his bid to be Prime Minister, he pledged to “level up” disadvantaged regions, focus on “social justice” and that there would be “no community left behind”. Mr Johnson also dubbed Jeremy Corbyn a "Hamas supporting anti-Semitic condoning apologist" as he issued a final rallying cry of "let's keep Corbyn out". This is the first of 16 hustings, as they try to convince Tory members they are the right man to fill Theresa May's shoes. No deal Brexit nearer as EU leaders' attitudes harden!

04:16
The Prime Ministers of both the Netherlands and the Republic of Ireland have made it clear that many of the EU27 leaders are now set against further Brexit delays, unless the UK changes course. PLEASE SUPPORT MY YOUTUBE WORK ON PATREON: http://bit.ly/2oUVQfm OR ON SUBSCRIBESTAR: https://www.subscribestar.com/jeff-taylor My Youtube Community Page: https://goo.gl/tpTxpt FACEBOOK: @JeffTaylorBrexit LIKE THIS? As Boris Johnson and Jeremy Hunt progress through to the final round of the Tory leadership contest where the membership gets to decide on who their new leader and Prime Minister will be, the message coming out of Brussels is that attitudes are hardening against any more Brexit delays. EU leaders are gathered in Brussels to decide on the future running of the bloc now the EU elections are over, with Brexit definitely taking a back seat with only one five minute slot allocated to it tomorrow. But EU27 leaders are still applying the pressure. The Dutch Prime Minister, Mark Rutte, said not only that Brexit would make the UK a diminished country, but also that there was no point in extending the Article 50 process again unless it was to hold a general election, have a second EU referendum or remove some of its negotiating red lines. He also said that there was no prospect of renegotiating the deal before the Article 50 extension expires on the 31st October. But he did say that the political declaration could be looked at again. While the Prime Minster of the Republic of Ireland, Leo Varadkar, said that the EU had run out of patience with the UK, saying: "There is very much a strong view across the European Union that there shouldn’t be any more extensions. "While I have endless patience, some of my colleagues have lost patience quite frankly with the UK and there is enormous hostility to any further extension. "So I think an extension could really only happen to facilitate something like a General Election in the UK or perhaps something like a second referendum if they decided to have one. "What won’t be entertained is an extension for further negotiations or further indicative votes – the time for that is long since past." The Irish PM also said that he would not conduct bilateral talks with the UK over the Irish border backstop. "Negotiations can only happen between the U.K. and EU. We are not going to allow negotiations to move to an intergovernmental level in any way." I think Leo Varadkar should re-phrase that to say the neither he, nor his government, have the sovereign power to conduct any bilateral talks with anyone, unless the EU gives the go ahead first, of course. So, what the EU is trying to do is set out the ground rules for the new PM before they've even set foot in Number Ten. And this is of course what the Remainers in parliament will quickly latch on to and feed with as much fuel as possible, to try and box in the final winner of the keys to Number Ten as much as they can. But by taking a harder stance and therefore expecting the UK to back down, the EU will only make it more difficult to strike any sort of arrangement with the new prime Minister, whichever of the two it is. Surely that just increases the chances of a WTO Brexit? And finally just to fill in the gaps on the fifth Tory leadership vote, Boris Johnson got 160 votes, Jeremy Hunt came second with 77 vote and quite a few gasps in the hall as it was announced and Michael Gove came third with 75. There was one rejected ballot paper. #Brexit #BorisJohnson #JeremyHunt

Tories prepared to vote down their own PM over no deal Brexit!

05:33
There appears to be a 'Dirty Dozen' of Tory MPs who would support a vote of no confidence in their own Prime Minister in order to stop a no deal Brexit. PLEASE SHARE IT using the url - https://youtu.be/HtVw4kIo_XQ *SUBSCRIBE* to Jeff Taylor Here: https://goo.gl/NyzUPo How to *SUPERCHARGE* your YouTube videos - start for FREE: http://bit.ly/2vbl9z2 PLEASE NOTE THIS IS NOT A FULL TRANSCRIPT!! Defence minister Tobias Ellwood told a Panorama programme to be aired tonight, that there are some Conservative MPs, including ministers, who could support a vote of no confidence in their new Prime Minister, if it looked like a no deal Brexit was on the cards. When asked if there were enough Tory rebels to stop the new PM, Mr Ellwood said: "I believe that absolutely is the case. I think a dozen or so members of Parliament would be on our side, would be voting against supporting a no deal, and that would include ministers as well as backbenchers." So, before the vote is even complete Tobias Ellwood is content to try and hem a new Prime Minister in, forcing them to taking any terms that the EU deign to offer the UK. And that is more likely than not to be their usual 'take the Withdrawal Agreement surender treaty or not' approach. What he is doing is taking the no-deal option off the table, or trying to, before any negotiations have been restarted or even attempted. Just sheer idiocy - or worse. How on earth do these Tory MPs think their new PM, whoever it is, will be able to strike a hard bargain with the EU if they're being perpetually stabbed in the back - openly? But remember that back in January, Tobias Ellwood published a Tweet that appeared to say that Article 50 should be extended in order to get a deal. In the Tweet he said: "Cooked a banana cake yesterday. Told my son it will be ready in 20 mins - according to the cookbook. It took 30. "It was a big decision - honouring the cookbook or take more time to get the right result." My answer to that is the banana bread should have been made and put into the pre-heated oven far earlier - which is what did not happen with proper Brexit preparations from even before the vote to leave occurred! I also suspect that some Tory MPs haven't quite cottoned on yet that many people will blame them individually and as a party at the next ballot, as much for the lack of no deal planning as they do for delaying Brexit thus far. The best way for these Tories to save their own political skins and their party from oblivion is to get their shoulders squarely behind the no deal wagon and put their backs into it. That would give Brexit real momentum, even at this late stage. But one suspects many of them will do anything but that. Now, in case you haven't heard, The Brexit Party is taking action to challenge the result of the recent Peterborough by-election where its candidate, Mike Greene came second just behind the winner, Labour's Lisa Forbes by just 863 votes. But where suspicions over electoral practices, especially regarding postal votes, have been raised with the police. The Brexit Party leader, Nigel Farage, who is no fan of the blanket issuing of postal votes, says that his party plans to issue a petition under the 1983 Representation of the People Act. This allows the result of an election to be challenged over mistakes or corruption. Talking at a press conference Nigel Farage, said: "I know people will say: ‘Oh, but it’s sour grapes.’ It isn’t. "Actually, as far as I’m concerned, this is about a lot more than Peterborough. It is about a system that is wide open to corruption, to intimidation, to bribery, to abuse on a whole number of levels. I have mentioned this a number of times in the past." The Brexit Party chairman, Richard Tice, said that not only was there rumour and speculation about irregularities, but also that "there is evidence emerging" and that "It’s only by having a full petition that we can truly get to the bottom of what may or may not have happened here, but also the lessons for the broader system." And: "Why were there rumours that morning that the Labour party had won by 500 votes? There are so many questions. We need answers. And the only mechanism available to us to give us those answers is to lodge a petition under the Representation of the People Act 1983. So we will be doing that this week." #Brexit #TheBrexitParty #NigelFarage Sources: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-48742881 https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2019/jun/24/boris-johnson-tory-coup-deal-brexit-tobias-ellwood-jeremy-hunt https://www.express.co.uk/news/politics/1075701/brexit-news-tobias-elmwood-article-50-delay-brexit https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2019/jun/24/brexit-party-peterborough-byelection-postal-vote

Opposition leader Jeremy Corbyn was accused of being a sexist and a misogynist today after appearing to call Theresa May a "stupid woman". The Labour boss was attacked by both Tory and Labour MPs after losing his rag with the PM during PMQs. Mrs May joked at the end of the pair's exchange today: "I've got some advice for the Right Honourable Gentleman - look behind you! "They are not impressed and neither is the country!" Mr Corbyn then shook his head and muttered "stupid woman" under his breath, as a lip-reader confirmed. Health Secretary Matt Hancock said at his outburst: "The mask slips. Jeremy Corbyn's abuse of the Prime Minister shows what a reactionary misogynist he is." And Labour's Jess Phillips said it was "sexist" and he "should apologise". Furious MPs raised the matter with the Commons Speaker just minutes later. Patrick McLoughlin fumed: "Would it not be appropriate for him to come back in the Chamber and apologise?" Politicians shouted "disgrace!" and "shame!", and Tory CCHQ boss Brandon Lewis demanded he apologise. He said: "Looks shocking on the film, unacceptable in any environment." Deaf drummer Evelyn Glennie told the BBC she was very certain he had said what was claimed. But Jeremy Corbyn's spokesman insisted this afternoon he WOULDN'T say sorry, saying he'd not said that.

BREXIT FURY: 'Ban me and watch my vote go UP in UK!' British MEP challenges shocked EU Parliament

04:50
British MEP Gerrard Batten warned the European Parliament a ban against him would result in the Ukip vote soaring in the UK in the event Britain is made to stand in European Parliamentary elections. The Ukip leader shocked the European Parliament with his speech in which he ridiculed European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker and Brexit negotiator Michel Barnier for working with Remainer “traitors” in Britain to scupper Brexit. During a fiery European Parliament speech, the MEP said the Brexit vote is “the only weapon the ordinary people have” as he urged Britons to vote for his party in EU elections. Mr Batten said: “Has the whole Brexit process fiasco been an elaborate conspiracy between Mrs May and the EU or is it just due to her monumental incompetence? SNP MEP Alyn Smith branded Mr Batten’s speech a “disgrace” and was greeted with a round of applause as he told MEPs: “He does not speak for the people of the United Kingdom. “He barely speaks for his own party such as it still exists". #Brexit #GerardBatten #AlynSmith

Varadkar comes clean over Brexit threat and admits IRELAND would implement no-deal border

06:55
Irish Prime Minister Leo Varadkar conceded that a no-deal Brexit would force Dublin to throw up a hard border in order to protect the European Union. The Irish prime minister vowed to protect the EU’s single market if Britain leaves the bloc without a deal on October 31. The leader suggested that he would implement the necessary checks on goods from Northern Ireland, which would ultimately lead to a hard border. After EU27 leaders were “updated” on the bloc’s no deal Brexit plans, Mr Varadkar told reporters: “If there is a no-deal Brexit at the end of October, Ireland will be under an obligation to protect the single market. “It's our single market, our economy and our jobs are dependent on it and we'll have to make sure that Ireland doesn't become the backdoor to the European single market and we're going to work with the Commission on mechanisms by which we can do that. “The only way that I can see that we can be sure that we avoid a hard border between Northern Ireland and Ireland is through regulatory alignment.” #Brexit #LeoVaradkar #Ireland

EU kills off Boris Brexit plan as Varadkar says leaders have ‘lost patience with UK’

01:40
European Union Union leaders have poured cold water on Boris Johnson’s plans to request a transition period without the full Brexit withdrawal agreement being adopted. The EU chiefs rounded on the Tory leadership hopeful’s latest suggestion as they arrived in Brussels for a crunch summit. Mr Johnson has argued Britain can take the “good bits” from Theresa May’s deal in order to implement a transition period to finalise alternative arrangements to the Northern Irish backstop. He wants to delay the end of the current transition – which is due to end in December 31, 2020 – until December 2021. But numerous heads of government have declined to discuss the plan if the former foreign secretary becomes Britain’s next prime minister. Irish prime minister Leo Varadkar told reporters: “The withdrawal agreement is not going to be reopened but we are willing to consider amendments to the joint political declaration. “And if there is no withdrawal agreement then there is no transition period. “There’s no withdrawal agreement without a backstop and there’s no implementation period without a withdrawal agreement.” #Brexit #LeoVaradkar #BorisJohnson

No Russian involvement in Brexit Vote says Nick Clegg!

03:59
Oh dear, this will come as a body blow to all those Remainer conspiracy theorists who keep claiming that the Russians operating on Facebook played a big part in the UK Brexit vote. The former leader of the Liberal Democrats, Nick Clegg, has come out and said that there is 'absolutely no evidence' that Russia used Facebook to influence how people voted in the 2016 EU Referendum. Talking to the BBC Radio 4 Today programme, Nick Clegg said that Facebook had investigated the claims and found no, what he called 'significant attempt' by actors external to the UK to skew the vote. He also dismissed claims that the data company, Cambridge Analytica did anything to persuade people to vote to leave the EU in the 2016 vote. The Guardian and Carole Cadwalladr are definitely not going to be happy about that little nugget, are they. But the former Lib Dem boss is of course now vice president of Facebook. And he said: "Much though I understand why people want to sort of reduce that eruption in British politics to some kind of plot or conspiracy - or some use of new social media through opaque means - I'm afraid the roots to British Euroscepticism go very, very deep." Going on to say that the people of the UK had been far more influenced by the traditional mainstream press. So, you would therefore think that he would now be arguing for more freedom of speech via social media, wouldn't you? Surely he should be railing against holders being stripped of their social media accounts or being demonetised for holding of differing opinions or engaging in edgy humour etc. But no, what he told the Today programme is that Facebook wants tighter regulation and that there was now a 'pressing need' for new rules on privacy, election rules, the use of personal data and decisions on what constitutes hate speech or harmful material. And when asked if Facebook could not do that themselves, he said that it was not a matter for private companies, but for legislators. “This is not something that big tech companies can or should do on their own,” he said, “I want to see companies like Facebook play an increasingly mature role, not shunning regulation but actually advocating it in a sensible way.” But, if Facebook is so squeaky clean and it is the mainstream media that is the dirty player here, then surely he should be pressing for the mainstream media to be investigated and more heavily regulated as the priority? And the Labour MP David Lammy showed he was none too pleased about some of Clegg's claims, by posting on Twitter: "What about the disinformation spread by Russian state media, RT and Sputnik, on Facebook? Hope Zuckerberg paid you a high price for any integrity you had leaving office." And he followed it up with another Tweet on the contents of a parliamentary report on the matter. Great to see the left having a spat with itself. Or is it the left having a spat with a former leftie turned corporatist? #Brexit #NickClegg #Facebook Sources: https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/facebook-nick-clegg-russia-interference-brexit-eu-referendum-a8971656.html https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-48740231 https://twitter.com/DavidLammy/status/1143058869515706373 https://twitter.com/DavidLammy/status/1143059218276261889

Third Anniversary of the Brexit Vote!

06:47
It is now three years to the day since the UK electorate took the momentous decision that it was time to leave the European Union, yet we still find ourselves chained to the bloc with no end in sight. Three years ago on the 23rd June 2016, the UK went to the polls in the biggest exercise in democracy the country has ever seen and voted by a margin of 52% to 48% to leave the European Union. And from the 24th of June, just about the entire establishment and mainstream media geared up to block all Brexit progress as well as besmirch everyone who had voted to Leave by calling them everything from bigots to ignorant. The Remainer establishment, aided and abetted by vested interests both domestic and foreign have blocked and obfuscated at every turn and we have even seen UK politicians travelling to Brussels to brief Eurocrats and work with them on defeating the will of their own electorate. And the very fact that the UK involved itself in the recent EU elections to send MEPs to Brussels and Strasbourg, tells you all you need to know about the success of the Remain campaign. And that is a big hurdle cleared for the Remainers. Now they will be looking to force a revocation of the Article 50 letter - by any means, constitutional or not, lawful or unlawful. But thank heavens Theresa May called the 2017 general election as, if she had not she could well have had enough support in the commons to eventually shoe-horn the country into that Withdrawal Agreement surrender treaty of hers. Also, thanks go to Gina Miller who, by bringing and winning her case, prevented Theresa May from using the Royal Prerogative to trigger Article 50, which has, inadvertently for her, handed the Leave cause a legal route to force an exit from the EU. Some people may believe that our establishment is not Remain biased, but I say it is. And the biggest smoking gun, the biggest giveaway of this is the reaction by government, parliament, the press and the judiciary to Robin Tilbrook's case. Tilbrook's case is basically the same as the case Gina Miller won. In that if the government had to get an act of parliament to trigger Article 50, then it follows that the government must use an act of parliament to extend Article 50 - this was not done as the Prime Minister, Theresa May used the Royal Prerogative at the last moment to agree the extension with the EU. Tilbrook says that without an act of parliament then she had no power to make that agreement so it is null and void. And Tilbrook's team are very, very sure of their ground and legal commentators have voiced their agreement. Now, Gina Miller brought her case in the hope that if she forced the government to use an act of parliament to trigger Article 50, then the houses of commons and lords would not vote it through so stopping Brexit in its tracks. So, because it was an anti-Brexit move it got wall to wall coverage and Miller was the star of every news and political show from that point on. And importantly the case was dealt with efficiently. Miller submitted the claim form on the 29th July 2016 and the whole case including appeal to the Supreme Court was done and dusted by the 24th January. The Tilbrook case was submitted on the 2nd of April and, as far as I know, there has not even been a court date set yet regarding this highly important constitutional case. Also, the press has largely ignored the Tilbrook case and even those politicians that call themselves Brexiteers cannot bring themselves to mention it. Now, some of this seeming disinterest may be down to Robin Tilbrook being the chairman of an opposing Brexit believing political party, the English Democrats. We have an independent judiciary in the UK and it is a well known legal maxim that delay defeats equity. And delay in hearing this case could also have the effect of tarnishing the reputation of our legal system and of the judiciary. And it is those sort of management decisions or the lack of making them in a timely manner, that are themselves open to judicial review one would think. But who would judge that and in which court? And it is because of the massive power that the judiciary wields that it must be seen to be swift and fair in all cases, nothing else will do. #Brexit #Article50 #RobinTilbrook Sources: https://www.legalcheek.com/2019/06/no-misconduct-trial-for-boris-johnson-after-high-court-intervenes/

Another by-election chance for The Brexit Party?!

04:33
The result is in, Tory MP Chris Davies has been unseated by a recall petition so there will be a by-election in Brecon and Radnorshire in the coming weeks. Not another election, I hear you sigh. Conservative Party MP for Brecon and Radnorshire, Chris Davies, was convicted earlier this year of a false expenses claim. This triggered the same recall procedure that cut short the political career of the former Labour MP, Fiona Onasanya. To force a by-election, more than ten percent of the electorate in the constituency have to vote for it and in Brecon and Radnorshire it reached 19%. The news so far is that the Lib Dems will be fielding their Welsh leader, Jane Dodds and Labour's candidate will be Tom Davies. A spokesman for Welsh Labour said: "The recall result is another huge blow to Chris Davies' credibility to serve as Member of Parliament. This is a mess all of his making." It is not yet clear if Chris Davies will be standing again himself, which he is at liberty to do, or whether the Tories will be changing candidate. It is also understood that The Brexit Party will be putting a candidate forward and David Rowlands, a Brexit Party Assembly Member said that the recall petition result was "...a loud and clear message that those electors want trustworthy politicians". According to the BBC, this came about because Mr Davies "...had tried to split the cost of £700 worth of photographs between two office budgets by creating fake invoices, when he could have claimed the amount by other means." He was fined £1,500 and told to do 50 hours of community service. And now he's been removed from office too. Now, this is the largest constituency by area in the UK with a population of 69,000 and an electorate of 53,000. So, it will very much suit those political parties who have a strong history in the area and will therefore have the ability and knowledge to carry out an effective ground campaign. In the past this has been swinging between the Tories and the Lib Dems since about 1987. It may therefore prove to be very challenging turf for The Brexit Party, which is still finding its feet. And, even though it was a Leave voting area, the split was 51.86% for leave and 48.14% for remain. Then there is the matter that, due to its own leadership election, the Tories might not be in the usual rush to get this by-election process going. Normally the party holding the seat would want to control the situation and have the by-election held as quickly as possible. The by-election process starts by the chief whip of the party whose MP held the now vacant seat doing what is called 'moving the Writ'. This requests that the Speaker issues a warrant to the Clerk of the Crown for a new Writ for an election. This is put to MPs to vote on and if they agree it is so ordered. According to the parliament website, a new Writ is usually issued within three months of the vacancy. With the by-election taking place between 21 and 27 days after the Writ is issued. But the Tories might be tempted to hold on until their new leader is well established. On this, the Labour spokesman said that the Tories 'must not drag their feet' and that they should call the by-election immediately. With recent National polling putting The Brexit Party ahead and the Lib Dems in second, this could prove to be another interesting by-election. #TheBrexitParty #BreconAndRadnorshire #ByElection Sources: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-politics-48720176 https://news.sky.com/story/convicted-tory-mp-chris-davies-loses-seat-triggering-by-election-11746258 https://www.parliament.uk/about/how/elections-and-voting/by-elections/
