Project Management Simplified: Learn The Fundamentals of PMI's Framework ✓

50:41
✅http://lig.academy - Need a better job? Most LIG members find their ideal employment within as little as 15 days. Welcome to this week's episode where I make project management simple for you. To make it applicable to the majority of the audience, I am teaching Project Management Institute's (PMI) project management framework. ________________________________________________ Textbooks and frameworks are always boring. So, to make project management more interesting for you, I ran a project to demonstrate what steps to take and when. You won't regret spending 50 minutes to learn the basics of a wonderful practice called project management. You can also download all the templates I used in the session here (no need to register); https://thecareermastery.com/career-tips/project-management-simplified/ Although I strongly recommend you watch the entire session without skipping, for those of you who are just looking for snippets of information, you may find below the index of the video; 03:03 What is a project, program, and portfolio and how are they different from operations? 04:08 Project = Project Life Cycle + Project Management Process 04:43 Project Life Cycle 06:52 Process Groups 09:27 LIG, PMP certification or CAPM certification, which one is right for you? [Hint: I am biased!] 11:53 Process Groups - Initiation 13:06 Process Groups - Initiation - Project Charter 16:50 Process Groups - Initiation - Stakeholder Identification 18:17 Process Groups - Planning 20:30 Process Groups - Planning - Collecting Requirements 22:45 Process Groups - Planning - Defining the Scope 24:41 Process Groups - Planning - Scope Baseline 25:12 Process Groups - Planning - Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) 32:22 Process Groups - Planning - WBS Dictionary & Scope Creep 34:39 Process Groups - Planning - Time Management / Developing a Schedule 36:00 Process Groups - Planning - Gantt Chart 37:38 Process Groups - Planning - Fast Tracking a Project & Project Crashing 38:52 Process Groups - Planning - Cost Management 39:42 Process Groups - Planning - Budget development (for PMP or CAPM takers) 41:02 Process Groups - Executing 42:04 Process Groups - Executing - Gold Plating 43:16 Process Groups - Monitoring and Controlling 45:00 Process Groups - Monitoring and Controlling - Earned Value 47:57 Process Groups - Closing Process Group _______________________________________________________________ What is even a project? It definitely has a sexy tone to it right? Project… I just love the way it sounds. I wonder how cool it must sound in French. Proje… Well, project is a temporary endeavor to create a unique solution. Yeah that’s operations. No Well, the difference between a project and operations is fairly simple. A project ends. So, it’s temporary. You implement your project, you close it, you create a unique product/service/ or whatever outcome you wanted then you are done. Whereas in operations, it’s on-going and repetitive. You may have also heard about the terms program and portfolio. Let me just quickly explain them here. Program is multiple projects put together. Combined. And Portfolio is similarly. Multiple programs put together. So, it’s project, program, portfolio. Now before I go further, and dive deep. You need to understand something crucial. To run any project, you need 2 methodologies. The first one is a project life cycle and the second one is project management process. Most people confuse these 2. And if these are not clear, you can kiss the PMP certification goodbye. It’s absolutely amazing how many content creators in YouTube confuse these two. They are not interchangeable. You cannot afford to confuse a project life cycle with a project management process. Don’t worry I am going to make it very simple for you. Let’s start with Project Life Cycle. Project Life Cycle is unique to a project, to an industry, to your needs. It’s highly customizable. Think of it like this; a human development is a project. So, your life cycle is; 1) Conceiving 2) Birth 3) Childhood 4) Teenage hood. Teenage hood. Is that a word? Teenaging? 5) Adulthood 6) And death Easy stuff right? So, now if it was an IT project. I am not an IT but it would like something like this; High-level design Detailed Design Coding Testing Installation And Turnover This is project life cycle. The term cycle is a bit confusing here. I think. But who knows. This video covers; project management project management institute pmp project management professional certification project life cycle project management PMI managing a project project management fundamentals fundamentals of project management project management for beginners project management course

I Decided to Sleep for 4 Hours a Day, See What Happened

12:29
One of the Bright Side writers decided to adjust his daily routine to leave only 2-4 hours for sleep! Do you ever think about how cool it would be if there were more hours in a day? You would easily have time for everything: work, hobbies, friends, and family or just lazing around doing nothing at all. But enough dreaming, let's get back to reality. The only way to make it happen is by sleeping less, but would that actually work without turning you into a tired grouch? TIMESTAMPS Where did the idea come from? 0:50 Day 1 2:48 Day 2 3:20 Day 3 3:46 Day 4 4:15 Day 5 4:55 Days 6-7 5:41 Days 8-10 6:20 Days 11-14 6:55 Pros of polyphasic sleep 7:30 Cons of polyphasic sleep 8:46 My thoughts after the experiment 9:48 SUMMARY If your life is like one big to-do list that you just can't seem to keep up with, then polyphasic sleep is probably for you. All jokes aside, I definitely became more productive, and I have a lot of spare time that allows me to do everything I want and even more. On the other hand, it can be difficult since the whole world is on a completely different regimen. Your friends and family might think it’s weird when you tell them you can't go out with them or ask them to pause a movie so you can take a nap. In any case, it's your choice to make. Just do your homework first, and then go for it! If this sort of dramatic change isn’t for you, don't worry! There are still lots of things you can do to improve your productivity. Behavior Management in the Classroom

27:39
Hey guys! So many of you wanted to know about my classroom management and how I got my kids to work so well and stay on task. So I put together this chatty video telling you about my philosophy of behavior management and some tips and ideas of how I go about managing all those little personalities in the classroom. I break this video down into three different sections: Section 1: Starting the year off with routines and procedures. It is so important to get your kids started off on the right foot. Make sure you send the message that you love and care about them while still ruling with a hard fist as some say. Section 2: In this section I discuss how I handle those little personalities when meshed together. Kids are notorious for tattling and I have a great remedy for that! Section 3: I'm not big into giving out rewards and consequences but I do a little something and I wanted to be sure I shared that with you. I hope you guys enjoyed this little video! *****CHECK ME OUT AT MY OTHER SOCIAL MEDIA SITES***** blog - https://www.theletteredclassroom.blog... The Secret to Successful Crisis Management in the 21st Century - Melissa Agnes TEDx Talk

17:50
There’s no denying it. Social media, the real-time news cycle and mobile technology have changed the landscape for crisis management. These changes include: heightened stakeholder expectations of two-way communication and transparency in a crisis; amplifying the speed at which organizations need to be prepared to respond and communicate in a crisis; the fact that it is becoming increasingly difficult for you to get ahead of the story and position your organization as the narrative of its own crisis. But whether we like it or not, these are today’s crisis realities and successful crisis management depends on your team’s ability to manage these real-time challenges that the digital landscape presents, while simultaneously managing the actual crisis in real-time. So then if these are today’s crisis realities, how can you arm your team with the skills, mindset and tools to make these realities and challenges work for your organization rather than against it? In other words, what is the secret to successful crisis management in this 21st century? This is the topic of Melissa Agnes's TEDx Talk, which she delivered in LA in 2015. Within this 18 minute presentation, Melissa discusses the impacts that the digital landscape have on crisis management and provides THE secret to successful crisis management in this 21st century. About Melissa Agnes: President and co-founder of Agnes + Day Inc., Melissa Agnes has developed an international reputation for crisis management, planning and training by helping global brands and government agencies prevent and manage a wide range of issues and crises. Melissa is an international and sought-after crisis management speaker. How San Francisco Is Becoming A Zero Waste City

04:16
To watch the next episode about how Lauren Singer fit 2 years of trash in a single jar, click here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nYDQcBQUDpw&list=PLRX7cVaoYVM7ZQFF6QTrYdhj_z2phxWNJ&index=10 According to the EPA, the national recycling rate in the U.S. is only about 34%. That means most of our solid waste goes to landfills and incinerators - including recyclable items like paper, glass, metal and plastic. Massive amounts of food waste that can be composted is clogging landfills, creating dangerous greenhouse gases. Many cities are starting to tackle this problem by implementing policies to help curb the waste by recycling and composting more. It's known as the "zero waste" movement, and San Francisco is on the forefront. Other cities that have zero waste goals include Portland, Seattle, Minneapolis, Austin, and Oakland. But San Francisco has been the most aggressive. In 2009 the board of supervisors passed an ordinance requiring all residents and business to recycle and compost their waste, making it the first American city to make composting mandatory. Its goal is to achieve zero waste by 2020, and it has diverted 80% of its waste from landfills so far. Now the city is getting attention from all around the world. Government officials from China, Italy, France, Denmark, India and many other countries have visited San Francisco's state of the art recycling and composting facilities in hopes of learning how to replicate its success. Procurement Training, Purchasing Training, Supply Chain Management Training - Click to Watch Now!

01:06:25
http://www.CenterForPSCMExcellence.org - You will get FREE world-class procurement training, purchasing training and supply chain management training in this video. Omid has 18 years experience with Intel Corp, where he rose to the position of leading their entire global corporate purchasing operations organization. His experience and strength in negotiations earned him the corporate designation of "Godfather of Negotiation Planning" for the entire $2.2B global purchasing organization, thus also nicknamed, The 2 Billion Dollar Man. He has broad and rich experience in complex, high dollar value, and high stakes negotiations, total cost analysis, supply chain management, purchasing contract law, purchasing operations, purchasing policies and procedures, complex sourcing strategies, controls and risk management, selection and deployment of purchasing systems/tools, purchasing integration of mergers and acquisitions, international purchasing strategies, negotiating with different cultures, supplier performance management, procurement training, and purchasing strategy mapping and execution. YOU WILL LEARN: 1. Taking costs out of supply chain  Why asking suppliers to reduce price is an antiquated strategy  Why focusing on supplier profit reduction only attacks a very small part of TCO  How to make your suppliers excited about reducing TCO instead fighting against you  How to change your RFX (RFP, RFQ) strategy and approach forever to get far more innovative and deep cost savings responses from suppliers 2. Writing contracts to prevent & remedy TCO excursions  Why relying on the legal department to "own" the contract terms is the biggest disservice to your results and to your career  How empowering yourself with contract knowledge can liberate you from being dependent on the legal department  Why relying on the standard contract template terms can get you in lots of hot water and how to stay out of it  How to shift the focus from the contract being a safety net for when things go wrong to having it be a strategic tool to make sure things go right 3. Cost Modeling & Benchmarking for success  What the different sorts of cost models are (Should Cost, Must Cost, Total Cost)  When to use each type of cost model and when to use benchmarking  Why using the wrong type of tool will get you poor results and result in lots of wasted time 4. Using concessions to achieve Win-Win Why the traditional notion of Win-Win is completely wrong and needs to be thrown out the window  What the Art and Science of negotiations really is: Meeting ALL of your high value/high TCO objectives while knowing how to make the supplier feel good about the deal  Why listening is the most important negotiation skill and how to use it to achieve Win-Win  How to use a concessions worksheet model to ensure that you know exactly what the supplier wants, and how to deliver them some "wins" that are high value but have minimal impact to your TCO Omid goes even deeper into each of these topics in training through his website, seminars, webinars and courses. We invite you to join our community and experience a paradigm shift in purchasing that will make your career and life much less stressful and much more enjoyable. Work with Omid to rearchitect how you do procurement to CATAPULT your purchasing results, career and income potential, GUARANTEED! I lost 25 lbs in 4 weeks and was in full panic or near panic for 8 weeks straight mixed with the darkest most painful depression I cold have ever imagined. I immediately could not work and had to move in with my parents who, along with many siblings and friends, had to watch me 24/7 as I was a danger to myself. Eventually I was hospitalized in the Psych Ward for a week. Getting through each day seemed truly unbearable and I knew I would surely die. I have been put on many many different SSRI's SNRI's Tricyclics, Mood stabilizers, anti psychotics, holistic meds, acupuncture and even a form of shock therapy called RTMS. I barely saw any improvement in my condition for a full year. It was decided I had treatment resistant depression and I spent nearly every moment in tears. Weeks after starting my newest round of medications (Seroquel & Nortryptaline) as a last ditch effort, I had my blood drawn for possible hormone imbalances and my Testosterone levels came back 200 ng/Dl and 150 ng/Dl. The average 25 year old male has 750 ng/Dl. With this discovery I for the first time had any type of possible explanation as to why I was not getting better and why I might be so so sick. The symptoms of such Low T are very similar to those of major depression. I started Testosterone replacement therapy soon after and have been checking in with the world and documenting my experience with treatment as well as giving my insight and perspective on various topics of mental health. I am blessed to say that I have slowly, over the last 5 years, been improving and becoming more stable which I never thought to be possible. My low T manifested itself in the form of Major depression, anxiety, and depersonalization/ derealization for over a year. Treating my low testosterone has been 1 HUGE part of the puzzle but I have had to continue to work hard to hold on to my mental stability with many set backs. Gaining some mental stability back is nothing short of a miracle as I was near death for what felt like forever. I do not consider myself to be totally healed yet but I am closer now then ever before and aim to use what I have been through to help or at least offer support to others in need I was able to successfully come off my Seroquel and Pamelor. I work out all the time as a part of my mental health recovery!!! Weight training and all kinds of cardio rule much of my free time and I also share this on my channel.
